PDFPortable Document Format
A document format created by Adobe in 1993 and now an ISO standard. The layout looks the same on every device, which makes it the reference format for sharing, signing and printing.
Turn your PDF documents into PNG images in seconds. Conversion happens in your browser, so your files are never uploaded to a server.

These sample files are generated on the page. Convert them to try it out, or add your own.
Click “Choose PDF files” or drop them on the page. You can add several at once.
PNG is already selected. Choose the resolution (72, 150 or 300 dpi), and all pages or just the first.
Click “Convert”, then download your PNG file. With several files, grab everything at once as a ZIP.
PNG is the right choice for pages made of text, tables, charts or diagrams: its lossless compression keeps edges crisp, without the small smudges JPG leaves around letters. Use it to paste a chart from a report into a presentation, illustrate a tutorial with a page of documentation, or mark up a floor plan. For a page of photos or a scanned document, though, JPG gives much lighter files.
Allow 150 dpi for a slide or a web page, and 300 dpi for printing or cropping a detail from a plan. Doubling the resolution gives four times as many pixels, and the file size grows accordingly. With several pages, each image takes the name of the PDF plus the page number (report-1.png, report-2.png…). Poster-sized or plan-sized pages are scaled down if they exceed what the browser can handle. The chosen resolution is recorded in the image, so software that reads it displays or prints it at the size of the original page.

A lossless image format introduced in 1996. It keeps every pixel and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos and illustrations. Photos are larger in PNG than in JPG.
The conversion draws each page on a white background, so the PNG is opaque even if the PDF contains a cut-out logo. To isolate a logo, convert the page, crop it, then remove the white background in an image editor. If you have the original logo as SVG or PNG, start from that file instead.
Each side is its length in inches multiplied by the resolution. At 300 dpi an A4 page gives 2,480 × 3,508 pixels and a US Letter page 2,550 × 3,300; at 150 dpi these figures are halved. A larger page, such as A3, gives a proportionally larger image.
No. The file is read and converted by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Pages are rendered at 150 dpi by default, enough for screens and everyday printing. Choose 300 dpi in the settings for more detail.
As many as you like, for free and without signing up. Add them all, then download the results one by one or in a single ZIP. The maximum size depends on your device and browser, with a few caps that protect its memory (for example 20,000 files per archive or 5 million filled cells per workbook: see the home page FAQ); a file over one of them is not converted, and a message says so.
Formatomat is designed for recent browsers on computers, iPhone and Android, with no app to install. A conversion the browser cannot do (a format it cannot read or write) is refused with a message that says so.
