HEICHigh Efficiency Image Container (HEIF)
The default photo format on iPhone since iOS 11 (2017). It can be half the size of a JPG of the same quality, but Windows, many websites and plenty of apps cannot open it.

These sample files are generated on the page. Convert them to try it out, or add your own.
Click “Choose HEIC files” or drop them on the page. You can add several at once.
PDF is already selected. Choose the page size: A4, Letter or the exact image size.
Click “Convert”, then download your PDF. With several images you get a single multi-page PDF (untick the option for one PDF per image).
Turning HEIC photos into a PDF is mostly about sending documents photographed on an iPhone: receipts, invoices, certificates, papers for an application. Each photo gets its own page, A4 by default, portrait or landscape to match its shape, centred with a margin of about 1 cm. The settings of the first image (page size, width) apply to every page of the PDF.
For email, enter a width of 1,500 to 2,000 px: the PDF will be much lighter and a document’s text will stay legible, even printed. The photos’ metadata, GPS location included, is not carried over. And avoid “Image size” for anything you will print: the page takes the photo’s dimensions, which means more than a metre on its long side for 12 megapixels.

A document format created by Adobe in 1993 and now an ISO standard. The layout looks the same on every device, which makes it the reference format for sharing, signing and printing.
Add all the photos and keep “One PDF for all images” ticked: the pages follow the order in which you added them. To be sure of the order, add the photos one at a time. One in the wrong place? Remove it from the list and add it again, and it becomes the last page.
No. Each photo goes into the PDF as a picture, and no text recognition is done. The document reads and prints normally, but its text cannot be selected, searched or copied. For that you need character recognition (OCR) software.
No. The file is read and converted by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Very little. The image is stored in the PDF as a 92% quality JPEG (losslessly if it has transparency, or if it is a lossless WebP such as a screenshot), so the difference is invisible to the naked eye.
As many as you like, for free and without signing up. Add them all, then download the results one by one or in a single ZIP. The maximum size depends on your device and browser, with a few caps that protect its memory (for example 20,000 files per archive or 5 million filled cells per workbook: see the home page FAQ); a file over one of them is not converted, and a message says so.
Formatomat is designed for recent browsers on computers, iPhone and Android, with no app to install. A conversion the browser cannot do (a format it cannot read or write) is refused with a message that says so.
