TTFTrueType Font
The TrueType font format, created by Apple in the late 1980s and adopted by Microsoft. It installs on every system.

These sample files are generated on the page. Convert them to try it out, or add your own.
Click “Choose TTF files” or drop them on the page. You can add several at once.
WOFF is already selected. The font flavour (TrueType or OpenType) is handled automatically.
Click “Convert”, then download your WOFF file. With several files, grab everything at once as a ZIP.
Converting a TTF to WOFF lets you host a font on your own website instead of loading it from an outside service. Each of the font’s tables is compressed and nothing else changes: glyph outlines, kerning, hinting and the axes of a variable font all stay identical. Nothing is stripped out to save space either: every glyph and every language is kept, which can leave a fairly heavy file.
On licensing, fonts under the SIL Open Font License, like most Google Fonts, can be converted and used on the web. Those bundled with Windows or macOS generally cannot, and commercial foundries often sell the web licence separately. TTF files downloaded from Google Fonts convert directly, in both their static and variable versions.

The web font format recommended by the W3C. It is a compressed TTF or OTF font that loads faster on a website.
Write one @font-face block per file: font-family with the name of your choice, src with the address of the .woff file and the woff format, then font-weight and font-style for the weight and style. Add font-display: swap so text stays visible while the font loads. Bold and italic files are converted and declared the same way, each in its own block.
WOFF2 compresses noticeably better and every current browser reads it, but Formatomat does not produce it yet. WOFF is still recognised everywhere, including by older browsers, and works as it is. If you also have a WOFF2, list it first in src and keep the WOFF as a fallback.
No. The file is read and converted by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
No. The font tables are just compressed (WOFF) or decompressed (TTF, OTF), so the glyphs stay identical.
As many as you like, for free and without signing up. Add them all, then download the results one by one or in a single ZIP. The maximum size depends on your device and browser, with a few caps that protect its memory (for example 20,000 files per archive or 5 million filled cells per workbook: see the home page FAQ); a file over one of them is not converted, and a message says so.
Formatomat is designed for recent browsers on computers, iPhone and Android, with no app to install. A conversion the browser cannot do (a format it cannot read or write) is refused with a message that says so.
